Conscious Relationship as Spiritual Path
Posted by MichaelAug 30

A conscious relationship with our most intimate partner can be one of the most profound spiritual paths available to us. These sacred relationships are dramatic teachers of wholeness, showing us where we need to heal. Problems with your intimate partner can be an opportunity to grow personally and as a couple.
During early childhood, you learned to bond with your caregivers in ways that felt good to you. This is where you learned many of the bonding patterns that continue in your adult life and is the foundation for all of your relationships. No matter how satisfying those early relationships may have been, you also had certain unmet needs. These are the same needs that you seek to get met today particularly in your romantic relationship. These bonding experiences and unmet needs “hard wired” your ego with behavior patterns that seek to have these needs met.
Understanding these bonding patterns helps you discover the shared wound and shared purpose that brought you together. This leads to a sacred relationship with a purpose that includes individual desires in service to an ideal that is passionately embraced by both partners.
The foundation for any successful relationship is good communication and understanding. This is especially true for romantic partners and requires more than just listening. True communication means that we listen beyond the limits and filters of our ego to really hear and understand what our partner is asking from us.
At this month’s Essence Circle Meet-Up we will be talking more about the Sacred Relationship. Join us at the Body Awareness Studio, 5549 Roswell Road, at 7 p.m. for a lively discussion.
